Aurora Lane Photography and Covid-19

As we all know New Zealand is currently facing an unprecedented time due to Covid 19. As we begin to navigate our way through the Covid Protection Framework (aka the Traffic Light System), I have some protocols in place to ensure the safety of both myself, parents who come into my studio, and most importantly their babies/children.

We are currently at ORANGE.

 For ALL sessions in my Wanaka Studio

  • My service as a photographer is a combination of close contact and non contact. Because my studio is open to newborns, I will be operating with vaccine mandates in place for all sessions regardless of what type of session it is within my studio. This is to protect my youngest clients in the best way possible. Vaccine certificates will be checked as you enter the studio (please note a vaccine certificate requires two vaccinations to be valid).

  • If you have requested a newborn session in your home, again I will require a vaccine certificate from both parents.

  • Clients will be expected to scan in to my QR code upon entry (please note this is attached the door of my studio. If I am in your home I will provide you with a QR code to scan into. This is a legal requirement for my business to run in the orange level.

  • For all studio sessions, clients will be required use the sanitiser that will be available on my table as you sit down. If we are in your home I expect hands to be freshly washed (mine included).

  • For your safety I will be using a mask throughout our session. You are not required to wear a mask but are welcome to if you wish (these of course will need to be removed for photos).

  • After every session within my studio, I will be performing a deep clean with special attention to high touch surfaces such as door handles, doors, floors, furniture and bathroom. Anti bacterial spray will be applied to soft surfaces that cannot be washed.

  • All props and backdrops will be washed between sessions

Outdoor Sessions

  • Outdoor sessions can be run as normal regardless of the traffic light settings.

  • No vaccine certificates are required as I can maintain distance throughout our session.

  • As a client however you will be legally required to scan in to my QR code.

  • Extra care will be required to monitor any family members for sickness - if in doubt please stay home. You will NOT be penalised if a session needs to be rescheduled due to sickness (and likewise if I have any Covid like symptoms I will inform you and look to reschedule).


While it goes without saying please be kind during this adjustment period to the Covid Protection Framework. As a photographer who works with young babies, toddlers and children I believe their safety is paramount. I do not hold judgement on anyone's vaccine status on a personal level, but my business is supportive of the mandates in place in an effort to protect the families I work with.
